The monthly average peso-dollar exchange rate slightly went up to 43.6486 in December from 43.2745 in November. On a year-on-year basis, the peso appreciated to 43.3131 in 2011 from 45.1097 in 2010.

The country’s preliminary gross international reserves (GIR) level as of end-December 2011 stood at US$75.1 billion, higher by US$12.7 billion compared to the end-December 2010 GIR of US$62.4 billion.
