Data analytics tools have the capabilities to answer research- and policy-related domain questions. To help policymakers craft responsive and evidence-based policies and collaborate within the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) region, this Policy Note applies a topic modeling algorithm to identify the themes discussed in APEC meetings. It also performs descriptive analytics techniques to generate descriptive summaries of project data and determine the level of support of APEC member-economies on a particular topic. The authors find that investment liberalization and green innovation and green development were among the themes discussed in APEC for three consecutive years. Meanwhile, the most supported topics in APEC based on the number of related projects and amount of funding allocated for them are energy, human resources development, trade facilitation, small and medium enterprises, and standards. Policymakers can take advantage of this information to pursue policies aligned with the identified themes and seek partnerships with other APEC members.
