Hello, PIDS friends! Here's our #FactFriday for the week on platform work and women.

A PIDS study found that women are more likely to participate in platform work than men because it offers them economic opportunities while performing housework and care work. However, platform work is based on contracts with no guarantee of secure income flow and social protection, putting them at a disadvantage. It is necessary to ensure that this new work arrangement does not exacerbate existing gender inequalities. Strategies that promote the social protection coverage and skills development of women are thus essential.
