Hello, PIDS friends! Here's our #PIDSFactFriday for the week on the fishing industry.

A PIDS study pointed out that illegal, unreported, and unregulated fishing amounted to 27-40 percent of fish caught in the Philippines in 2019, based on a report by the Coastal Resource Center. The study recommends strengthening the monitoring, control, and surveillance systems and law enforcement. This should be supported by a sustained education campaign on the importance of fisheries management to encourage compliance and self-regulation.
