Dr. Philip Arnold “Randy” P. Tuaño officially took his oath as the 8th president of the Philippine Institute for Development Studies (PIDS) on June 25, 2025, before Department of Economy, Planning, and Development Secretary and PIDS Board Chairperson Dr. Arsenio M. Balisacan.
A seasoned economist and governance advocate, Dr. Tuaño emphasized the responsibility and privilege of leading the country’s premier policy think tank, pledging to deepen its impact on both long-term planning and day-to-day public policy challenges.
The oathtaking was witnessed by outgoing PIDS President Dr. Aniceto C. Orbeta, Jr., and members of the Board of Trustees Fr. Roberto C. Yap, SJ, Ph.D., and Dr. Ma. Cynthia Rose B. Bautista, along with the PIDS management and staff, and Dr. Tuaño’s family.
