Delegates of the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) paid a visit to the Philippine Institute for Development Studies (PIDS) on November 29, 2022, to discuss disaster resiliency challenges in the Philippines and explore international strategies to support disaster recovery.

OECD is an international organization that promotes public policies for long-term economic growth.

The delegation consisted of Head of Asia Desk Kensuke Molnar-Tanaka and Deputy Head Prasiwi Ibrahim. They were welcomed by PIDS President Aniceto Orbeta Jr. and Senior Research Fellows Sonny Domingo and Adoracion Navarro.

The discussion focused on disaster risk financing, the potential of catastrophe bonds for limiting Asian countries’ exposure to disaster risks, policy directions for financing tools such as disaster insurance, and opportunities for improving disaster risk management in the Philippines.
