How can artificial intelligence reshape governance? Can it deliver cleaner energy, strengthen integrity in public institutions, and help us prepare for aging societies? How can it deepen risks of bias, inequality, and weak accountability?
These questions took center stage at the 11th APPC, the main and culminating event of the 23rd Development Policy Research Month (DPRM), where voices from government, academia, business, civil society, and global experts critically examined both the promises and perils of AI.
The discussions unfolded across four plenary sessions:
1. Opening Plenary on AI and Governance – comparing approaches and frameworks across the US, EU, and China, and what the Philippines and developing countries can take from those perspectives
2. Energy Issues and AI – exploring how intelligent technologies can drive sustainability and efficiency in the energy sector
3. AI-Augmented Fight Against Corruption – assessing how AI tools can help uphold integrity in government while confronting risks of misuse
4. Governing Aging Societies in an Intelligent Era – examining how AI can support health, caregiving, and social protection for older populations
Our deepest thanks to everyone who participated and made the 11th APPC a success!
The 11th APPC was organized with the support of the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas.
