
The 23rd Development Policy Research Month (DPRM) officially kicked off yesterday with a press conference at Seda Vertis North, Quezon City. Experts discussed the opportunities and risks of artificial intelligence and stressed the need for governance systems that ensure AI adoption is ethical, inclusive, and geared toward the public good. Questions also highlighted AI’s impact on open government, data privacy and protection, and legislation.
PIDS also launched the first-ever Saliksik at Balita: PIDS Media Awards, recognizing the work of journalists and media organizations that champion research-informed public discourse. The inaugural awardees are:
- Tagapanguna sa Himpapawid (Most Supportive Media Partner–Broadcast): Bilyonaryo News Channel
- Daluyan ng Dunong (Most Supportive Media Partner–Online): BusinessWorld
- Kwentista ng Pnanaliksik (Most Supportive Media Partner–Online): Angela Celis (Malaya Business Insight)
- Saliksik at Salaysay: Special Recognition for PIDS Research-based Documentary - "Hangry Documentary Series" by Probe
- Most Supportive Broadcast Personality: Su Jin Kim (Bilyonaryo News Channel TV Reporter and Anchor)
- Lingkod-Dunong (Most Supportive Government Media Partner): Philippine Information Agency
PIDS also recognized over 25 media entities that joined yesterday’s press conference and continue to help bring research-informed discussions to the public.
