On March 10, the Philippine APEC Study Center Network (PASCN)-Philippine Institute for Development Studies (PIDS) and Xavier University (XU)-Ateneo de Cagayan formally signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), marking a significant step in strengthening research collaboration and academic exchange between the two institutions.

This partnership underscores a shared commitment to advancing policy research, capacity building, and knowledge-sharing on key development issues. Through this MOU, PIDS and XU-Ateneo de Cagayan will collaborate on joint research initiatives, faculty and student engagement, and scholarly exchanges that contribute to evidence-based policymaking in the Philippines.

The signing ceremony was attended by esteemed officials and faculty members from both institutions, reaffirming their dedication to fostering meaningful academic partnerships.

Furthermore, as part of this collaboration, PIDS and XU co-hosted the PASCN-PIDS-XU Public Symposium on “Sustaining Heritage, Innovating Communities: The Future of Philippine Cultural MSMEs and Agroecotourism.” The symposium explored policy recommendations and innovative strategies to support agroecotourism and cultural micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), recognizing their shared challenges and opportunities for growth. Discussions highlighted best practices in community-led enterprise development, strategies for leveraging technology and digital marketing, and policy frameworks for sustainable and inclusive business models.

The event featured a PASCN Roadshow, aimed at providing faculty, students, and researchers with insights into PASCN’s research programs, including the Research Program (RP) and the Thesis and Dissertation Assistance Program (TDAP). Former grantees shared testimonials on their experiences, application processes, and how PASCN’s support has advanced their academic and professional careers.
