The PIDS team, in consultation with the UNICEF team, is proposing an extension of the PIDS-UNICEF Project for the conduct of an additional study and to augment the activities for the ongoing studies, especially the compendium of nutrition studies initiative.
The new study is on the Wasting Estimation Using Mid-Upper Arm Circumference (MUAC) vis-à-vis Weight-for-Height-Z score (WFZ), which aims to compare the weight-for-height (WHZ) estimates with mid-upper-arm circumference (MUAC) and assess whether there was any discrepancy in the children diagnosed as wasted by MUAC versus WHZ in the Philippines. There will also be additional topics and chapters under the compendium of nutrition studies
