The Philippine Institute for Development Studies (PIDS) will hold its first webinar on May 14, 2020, from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm, to discuss the PIDS research paper titled “Projected Disease Transmission, Health System Requirements, and Macroeconomic Impacts of the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) in the Philippines”.

The study will be presented by PIDS authors, namely, Senior Research Fellow Michael Abrigo, Research Fellow Valerie Gilbert Ulep, and Supervising Research Specialist Jhanna Uy. They will discuss the potential socioeconomic impacts of the pandemic in the Philippines under different scenarios, their projections on the resource requirements needed by the health sector to cope with the demands of the pandemic, and the possible burden of COVID-19 on the Philippine macroeconomy. Based on these, they will offer recommendations for moving forward.

Due to technical limitations, this event is by invitation only. For inquiries, please contact Ms. Rowena T. Taliping or Ms. Gwen B. de la Cruz at rtaliping@mail.pids.gov.ph or NdelaCruz@mail.pids.gov.ph, respectively.
