The year 2024 marked a period of transformation for the Philippine Institute for Development Studies (PIDS), driven by a renewed commitment to its mission of producing evidence that informs decisions, inspires meaningful reform, and ultimately leads to better lives for Filipinos.
Throughout the year, PIDS expanded its research agenda, deepened partnerships, and tackled some of the country’s most pressing development challenges. The Institute completed studies across key areas such as agriculture, environment, human development, governance, macroeconomics, trade, science and innovation, and regional and urban development. It also undertook several commissioned projects in collaboration with national and international partners.
To promote the use of policy research, PIDS published a wide range of outputs, including peer-reviewed research papers, discussion papers, policy notes, and books. Additionally, it organized public webinars and enhanced its reach through digital platforms.
These achievements underscore PIDS’s vital role in advancing evidence-informed policymaking. Looking ahead, the Institute remains committed to deepening its impact by pursuing relevant research, expanding collaboration, and fostering inclusive and sustainable development for all Filipinos.
